Climate Change
Hunger, sickness, flooding,and weather disasters are the top causes of death by climate change. Death is estimated to hit 500k if we don't make awareness. Every day you check the news, there are stories about hot temperatures, poverty and displacement, health issues, food scarcity, loss of species, rising ocean, drought, severe storms, and many more. The climate change news never stops coming in, and it has been a source of worry in the whole world in general, and it begs to ask whether soon the earth will be safe to live in.
Although we all feel bad when we see the disaster caused by the climate, we'd have to do more than that if we want to end the disasters. We have to take action! However, before we can take any action, we need to know what you and I have been doing that has been giving power to the climate disasters. The following are some causes of climate change in the environment: etc.
- 1. Transportation: The vehicles used to transport us emit some gasses, and they are a major source of global greenhouse emissions. They use petroleum, and the combustion engine converts them to carbon dioxide, releasing them into the atmosphere. The solution is to call for the government to invest heavily in zero-emissions vehicles.
- 2. Electricity: Electricity is generated from coal burning, natural gas, and fossil fuels in most countries, and it's responsible for greenhouse emissions such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide. Fortunately, a new energy source has been developed in some counties, which doesn't contribute to global warming. Renewable energy is safe and cheaper for the environment. Most technologies are now turning to wind and solar as a source of energy. However, there's a lot for us to do if we want every country and all technology to use renewable energy.
- 3. Deforestation: Although it has benefits, cutting down trees for farms or pastures promotes climate change. When trees are cut down, the carbon stored in them is released into the atmosphere. Other causes of climate change include oil and gas development, industry and manufacturing, agriculture, etc.
